Free electricity carbon footprint calculator

Enter your annual electricity use and country to get an indicative Scope 2 estimate in seconds — using the same sourced grid factors as the full ESG Passport.

Scope of this tool

One input, one output: annual kWh → an estimated Scope 2 (electricity) footprint. It doesn't cover fuel, vehicles, or Scope 1/3 — that's what the full wizard is for. If a buyer sent you a request, this number alone won't answer it; a Passport will.

Don't have this number handy? Skip the search — in the full ESG Passport wizard, you just upload your bill and AI reads the kWh for you.

Why work this hard for one number?

You just did by hand what our AI does automatically. Create a free ESG Passport and upload the same bill — AI reads the kWh straight off it, so you don't have to find and type it in again. From there it's a few more guided questions, and you have a complete, shareable Passport — not just one number, reusable for every buyer who asks.

Frequently asked questions

No — this is a single Scope 2 number, calculated from a country grid factor. A Passport is a complete, standards-aligned profile: Scope 1 and 2 emissions, workforce and policy answers, and a shareable link and PDF your buyers can act on. The calculator exists to give you one honest number in 30 seconds; the wizard exists to answer the actual request you received.

The same sourced Scope 2 grid factors used across the product — Ember, IEA, and national authorities, depending on country. Smart Pack countries (Germany, US, UK, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Brazil, Israel) get their exact national factor; EU countries without their own Smart Pack use an EU average; everywhere else uses a global average. See the Methodology page for the full source list.

By design. This tool answers one question well — your electricity-based Scope 2 footprint — instead of half-answering several. Fuel, vehicles, waste, and workforce data all belong in the full wizard, where they combine into one profile you can actually send to a buyer.

Not on this page — bill upload is an AI feature reserved for the full ESG Passport wizard, where the extracted data feeds directly into a complete profile rather than a one-off number. It takes about the same 30 seconds and you get a lot more out of it.

This calculator produces an indicative estimate, not an audited figure. EcoDiligence data is self-reported and is not independently audited or assured. See the Methodology page for factor sources and limitations.
